I’ve ridden across the United States a few times, up into a couple Canadian Provinces as well. I ridden my 2012 DL650 VStrom coast to coast in 46 hours successfully completing the Iron Butt Assocaition IBA50 CC, have compelted the Cortona Midnight Run in January into the hills of New York, and have done not much more than change oil and filter, brakes at 62,000 miles, 1 headlamp at 48,000 miles, the other light at 98,000 miles, air filters every 12,000 miles, 1 fork seal (due to jumping a curb I believe), both handlebar controls (warranty, due to riding in salt water in Winter in the Northeast, sorry Suzuki), tires every 12,000 to 14,000 miles, chain and sprickets every 20,000 miles.
Scroll down on teh left of this Google Map to see some pics of where I’ve ridden this bike. I’m 55 years,, 6’3″ 220# and ride wiht my 8 year old daughter off road, work full time, commute, day trips and once a year or so take a long ride. Save your money – instead of a BMW, buy a Suzuki VStrom and take the ride of your life and have a blast!
